Looking through “rose colored glasses” means to view things in an overly positive or optimistic way, often ignoring or dismissing any negative aspects or potential problems. This phrase is often used to describe someone who is unrealistic or naive about a situation.
As Spring approaches and the flowers bloom, I suggest everyone try putting on a set of Rose Colored Glasses–or Tulip Colored, or Peony Colored, or even Lily Colored Glasses. Whatever you look through, just try seeing the bright side of life. When things don’t go your way, try understanding in the present moment that it was for a reason. The loss, the pain, the upsetting moment, the misrepresentation was all for a grander part of your life’s journey. A lesson you needed to learn, overcome, or look at more deeply to understand the blessings that may come to you in the future. Also look at the good moments through the same lenses. When you’re in a good moment, really be present and sit in the feelings that are happening. If you feel like smiling, smile. If you feel like laughing, laugh. If you want to take a picture of the magical moment you’re experiencing, snap the photo. Remember to journal about it so you can reflect on it in the future.
Staying positive and optimistic can be challenging when life gets difficult, but it is important to remember that there are things you can do to maintain a positive outlook.
First, try to focus on the present moment. Instead of worrying about the future or dwelling on the past, try to focus on what is happening right now and what you can do to make it better. This can help you to feel more in control of your life and more positive about your future.
Second, practice gratitude. Take a few minutes each day to think about the things you are thankful for in your life. This can help you to appreciate what you have and to feel more positive about the future.
Third, surround yourself with positive people. Being around people who are optimistic and supportive can help you to maintain a positive outlook, even when things are difficult.
Fourth, engage in activities that you enjoy and that make you feel good. Whether it’s a hobby, exercise, or spending time with friends and family, engaging in activities that bring you joy can help to boost your mood and improve your outlook on life.
Fifth, take care of your physical and mental health. Eating a healthy diet, getting enough sleep, and engaging in regular exercise can all help to improve your overall well-being and make it easier to maintain a positive outlook on life.
Finally, remember that it is normal to have difficult times in life. Everyone goes through tough times, and it is important to allow yourself to feel your emotions and to work through them in a healthy way. With the right tools and mindset, you can overcome difficult times and maintain a positive and optimistic outlook on life.
