Dear Valentine

Dear Valentine,

I have yet to find you but someday, today will be our favorite day.

Oh, goodness. Valentine’s Day really puts your love life into perspective every year. When February 14th rolls around, we all hope, pray, and look at our phone desperately awaiting the perfect text, invitation, or confession of true, undying love. Personally, all the damage Disney princesses did on me comes bubbling to the surface because deep down I am a completely, utterly ridiculous hopeless romantic. My dream come true is to be swept off my feet by my own Prince Charming and ride into the sunset of life as we have a magical marriage, wondrous children, and grow old together. I mean, come on, don’t we all want to die in our lovers arms like Allie and Noah in the Notebook? “If you’re a bird, I’m a bird.”

Valentine’s Day is a holiday that celebrates love and affection between intimate partners. However, for those who are single, this day can often be a source of stress and anxiety. But being single doesn’t have to mean being lonely or unhappy. Here are some ways to make the most of Valentine’s Day as a single person:

  1. Focus on self-love: Use this day to focus on yourself and your own well-being. Treat yourself to something you’ve been wanting or do an activity you enjoy. I did my nails pink and red and did my hair. To keep my mind light, I also watched Love Island while journaling about my own desires for what kind of person I want to bring into my life.
  2. Spend time with friends: Surround yourself with friends who support and care about you. Have a fun night in or go out and enjoy each other’s company. If you have single friends, today is a day to love on each other. Love isn’t linear. Pour your love wherever you can especially to those you know who may have lost their significant others.
  3. Volunteer: Give back to your community by volunteering at a local organization. Helping others can bring a sense of fulfillment and joy.
  4. Try online dating: If you’re looking to find love, consider trying online dating. There are many platforms that cater to different interests and preferences. Personally, I use Raya. I haven’t met anyone on there thus far but wish me luck!
  5. Be open-minded: Keep an open mind and be open to new experiences. You never know when or where you might meet someone special.

Remember, finding love is not about rushing into a relationship, but about being open and receptive to new experiences and opportunities. Embrace your single status and focus on your own happiness, and love will come when the time is right.

Until my true love comes around, I have the tools to handle today and I hope my blog has given you some tools to take on this Valentine’s Day proudly!
