Pregnant Rihanna Breaking the Glass Ceiling

I watched the half-time performance of the Super Bowl LVII featuring the one and only Rihanna. It seems like the major superstar is pregnant with her second baby which was a pleasant surprise! The main takeaway from this performance was how absolutely amazing it is that being pregnant and performing is becoming more and more normalized. This woman flew across the stadium on a plank and I’m sure there was glass on the ground from her breaking another level of the glass ceiling.

In addition to her music career, Rihanna has also ventured into acting, appearing in movies like “Ocean’s 8” and “Battleship,” and has launched her own cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty, which has been praised for its inclusive range of makeup shades.

Normalizing pregnancy is one of the best signs that the renaissance of the 2020’s is for the benefit of women. I cannot wait for the day that we stop spending so much on weddings and put more money into the pregnant mother’s around the world. I can only imagine how Rihanna’s feet are feeling nevertheless her body. She was still shining bright like a diamond and I commend her and all mommies in the entertainment industry over the last decade that have helped make this dream a reality. Especially in a country that doesn’t properly give time off and paid time off to mothers. I hope we come to that one day as well as I hope mothers continue to prove that we can do it all because we are strong and resilient.

Pregnancy is a natural process that should be normalized in the workforce. Unfortunately, the reality is that many workplaces do not adequately support pregnant women, which can negatively impact their health and well-being.

One of the key reasons why it is important to take care of mothers during pregnancy is because pregnancy is physically and emotionally demanding. Pregnant women may experience a range of symptoms, such as morning sickness, fatigue, and back pain, which can make it difficult for them to perform their job duties. Additionally, the stress of managing work and a pregnancy can be overwhelming, which can have negative effects on both the mother and the baby.

By normalizing pregnancy in the workforce, employers can create a culture that supports mothers and helps them to manage their pregnancy in a healthy way. This can include providing flexible work arrangements, such as remote work or reduced hours, to accommodate for doctor’s appointments and the physical demands of pregnancy. Employers can also offer resources and education on prenatal care, breastfeeding, and other aspects of maternal health to ensure that mothers have the information they need to make informed decisions about their health and the health of their baby.

In addition to the moral imperative of supporting mothers during pregnancy, there are also economic benefits to normalizing pregnancy in the workforce. A study by the National Bureau of Economic Research found that providing paid maternity leave can reduce the likelihood of postpartum depression and improve the long-term health outcomes for both mothers and babies. Additionally, offering supportive policies for mothers can improve retention rates and reduce turnover, which can ultimately save companies money.

Overall, normalizing pregnancy in the workforce is essential for ensuring that mothers receive the support and resources they need to manage their pregnancy in a healthy way. By taking care of mothers, we can improve their health and well-being, as well as the health and well-being of their babies. Rihanna’s impact on the music industry, fashion world, and society at large is undeniable, and her legacy as a trailblazer and cultural icon will undoubtedly continue for years to come. Thank you, Rihanna, Beyoncé, Cardi B, and the countless other ladies leading the way for mommies to be the superheroes they naturally are!
