I Am Changing My Life!

As I have mentioned on my Instagram, I am changing my life! To be completely transparent, I am not where I want to be YET, nevertheless, I am simply not accepting my current life and I am only manifesting and walking into the life that I DESIRE.

At 12 years old, I knew who I wanted to be yet I had no idea how to attain that life and lifestyle. Then as an adult, I was blessed to become a nanny for almost 40 families throughout Bel Air, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Calabasas, Pacific Palisades, and Woodland Hills. It was as if God heard my little southern heart and gave me the answers year by year with some of the most patient, amazing mothers and fathers who have turned into friends.

Working with these families allowed me to learn how to eat healthily and what to eat. It opened my eyes to what luxury is–quality over quantity–and taking care of quality items with intensive care. I was invited to parties and events where I was able to implement the etiquette my grandmother and other mentors taught and instilled in me during my teen and early adulthood years.

I moved with a different purpose and spoke differently over time because the slang and underprivileged mannerisms no longer served me in these situations. I realized as much as certain habits were cultural, they were also a crutch. After all, I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and still chose to speak like a country bumpkin.

Being around people who were both generationally wealthy and newfound wealth, allowed me to see that I could change my life for the better but it was all down to mindset. This has been no easy feat though. It has taken me years to break bad habits and change my mindset. Most importantly, to have faith in God’s design.

In 2020, when the Pandemic started, I sat down and started writing my own biography; a 30+ chapter non-fiction novel. As I wrote, I finally picked up on the patterns of my life. After all, sometimes when I would tell people about my life, it seemed absolutely facetious because as unbelievable as it sounded, was how unbelievable it was for me to write the trials, tribulations, testimonies, and pure miracles in my life. I saw that no matter how low I was and no matter how little I had, God always made a way and when I would walk by faith, everything would lead me right back to this path that I was eagerly and desperately trying to get to.

It was not all about gaining money, clothes, cars, and houses. What I treasured most as a nanny, was the lifestyle of the children. I wanted that more than anything for my future children. When I changed my mindset to this, the way I carried myself also changed. Wanting an abundant life for my future children edited who I dated, who I befriended, where I hung out, how I hung out, what I ate, what I bought, and so much more.

I had a blessed childhood, but my childhood was humble. We made do with what we had and we worked hard for what we didn’t. My grandmother would tell me to never “po’ mouth,” because even if we were broke, there was always someone close by who had even less so you have to be grateful for everything you have and make it the best you can. That’s what I did.

When I would compete in pageants, other girls would have on $1,000 dresses, and I would win in a $50 dress. When other girls had hair and makeup artists, my grandmother invested in a makeup class at my modeling school and I learned to do my own makeup. When other kids went to school in brand new clothing and shoes, I would turn thrift and consignment store clothing into fashionable pieces by studying Vogue magazine at the local doctor’s office. Even to this day, I have been gifted so many luxury pieces in my wardrobe and had the honor to buy a few things for myself throughout the years. Yet, I will pair Christian Louboutins with a Zara jacket and still make it look good. It’s about the way I feel and whenever I put forward my best self, I feel like a million bucks and because I feel like a million bucks, I manifest that lifestyle a few steps closer.

That is what this blog is all about, and what I hope this entry gets people to understand. I will be a multimillionaire someday. Perhaps even a billionaire. I keep my heart pure and help people when and how I can. I have practiced using better habits, speaking life over myself, and blessings into my life. One day, when I have children of my own, I want them to know peace, prosperity, ease, comfort, security, and safety. I want them to eat quality food and wear quality clothing.

Step by step, here are three ways I am changing my life this year with the knowledge I have:

  1. I am investing in quality clothing that is made from natural textiles. I am moving away from synthetic materials and slowly getting rid of them from my closet. When something is worn down, I donate it and replace it with wool, linen, cotton, silk, hemp, or other natural fibers.
  2. I am cutting out processed foods and eating foods out of cans. There are too many preservatives in processed and canned foods. I’ve been eating them most of my life and I am sure this has attributed to many of my health problems. By eating organic, fresh, and home-cooked food, I am extending my life and practicing self-care.
  3. I only purchase things I need and cut out impulse buys. This forces me to invest in quality household and personal items that do not easily break or wear down. This also allows me to save earned money easier when hardships come as well as be able to invest in memories more. For example, instead of spending $200 at Target, I can spend that same amount to go snowboarding and create a lifelong memory and skill.

You deserve to live your best and most fulfilling life. So go and do just that. God, the universe, or whatever higher power you believe in, has your back. I hope this post inspires you to welcome luxury into your life as you learn lessons along the way. I hope you want the best for yourself, your future, and for those around you.
